Overview:
Works under general supervision in performing supply and laundry receiving and distribution functions of the purchasing and stores.
Provides materials service for all areas of the Hospital by assuring that all supplies and equipment are received and processed in accordance with proper and prudent practices, and by maintaining accurate and consistent supplies distribution service for all Hospital areas.
Responsibilities:
Processes and receives all supplies and equipment and distributes them to the respective areas.
Inventories, replenishes, and documents issues to the carts used in the cart distribution system using a computer inventory control system.
Provides information to interdepartmental personnel concerning the daily activities of the Department, including stock shortages, receiving problems, and work completion on a daily basis.
Pulls and delivers orders for non-cart items and forms for all departments and completes appropriate documentation.
Counts and records on-hand supply quantities and assists in completion of inventories including annual inventory.
Completes appropriate paperwork for returned merchandise and repair returns.
This may require dealing with outside delivery personnel and salespeople.
Assists with filing and order placement when needed.
Keeps the Storeroom neat and orderly at all times and removes empty cartons and boxes daily.
Accurately inventories and replenishes medical and linen supply areas.
Material management technicians will be required to use the computer and input transactions.
Qualifications:
Work requires the ability to read and record all types of documentation well enough to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures, the ability to perform addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and fractions and the use of good judgment which is normally acquired through completion of a high school education.
Requires current Indiana driver's license and a good driving record.
No minimum experience required.
A basic understanding of distribution, proper lifting and heavy handling techniques, and general storeroom procedures is a plus.
Work also requires knowledge of all supply items, their location and knowledge of all Purchasing and Stores policies and procedures which is normally obtained after 6 to 9 months on-the-job training.
